Corrido
Building a private living archive for family stories, from concept through App Store and Google Play

The Client
Corrido is a private system where families capture stories, traditions, memories, and history, then organize them into a living archive future generations can understand. Rather than leaving meaning buried in scattered chats and camera rolls, Corrido connects stories by people, themes, places, values, and context so family knowledge stays coherent, searchable, and shareable within a trusted circle.
The Challenge
Family knowledge is hard to capture in real time. Relatives pass away before their stories are recorded, moments feel awkward to ask about, and relationships do not always support that conversation. Even when memories exist, context lives across messaging threads, photo libraries, and informal notes that never become a durable archive. Folders of videos may preserve media, but they do not organize meaning for the next generation: who said what, why it mattered, and how it connects to the people and places that define a family.
The Solution
Wknd Builds partnered end-to-end to turn Corrido from a product concept into a shippable mobile experience with production infrastructure, store distribution, and subscription monetization. The solution included the following key components:
- End-to-End Product Ownership: Led product from concept through design, architecture, implementation, store distribution, subscription monetization, and ongoing development, keeping strategy, UX, and engineering aligned as the product matured.
- Storytelling-Centered UX: Designed the experience around guided storytelling, family participation, privacy, and long-term preservation so capturing a memory feels approachable rather than like a chore.
- Cross-Platform Mobile and Backend Systems: Built a cross-platform mobile app with React Native, Expo, and TypeScript, supported by a backend stack of Hono, Drizzle, and Postgres, including authentication, media handling, and admin systems needed for production use.
- Capture, Organization, and Searchable Archive Workflows: Implemented workflows for recording and organizing stories, connecting them to people and family context, and keeping the archive searchable so meaning compounds over time instead of disappearing into unstructured storage.
- Accounts, Family Access, and Privacy Controls: Delivered in-app purchases, account management, family access, privacy controls, and production deployment so private family spaces could operate securely at scale.
- App Store and Google Play Launch: Managed the Apple App Store launch, including subscriptions, privacy disclosures, and review, and established Google Play availability so families could access Corrido on both major mobile platforms.
The Results
- Shipped on iOS and Android: Corrido launched as production apps available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, giving families a real path to capture and preserve stories on the devices they already use.
- Coherent Product, Not a Disconnected MVP: End-to-end ownership delivered a coherent experience across capture, organization, and preservation, rather than a collection of features that never became usable family infrastructure.
- Private Spaces with Production Infrastructure: Families can work in private-by-default spaces supported by subscription billing and production-ready infrastructure, aligning privacy expectations with a sustainable business model.
In Conclusion
The partnership between Corrido and Wknd Builds shows how end-to-end product ownership can turn the hard problem of preserving family knowledge before it fades into shippable family infrastructure. By aligning strategy, design, engineering, monetization, and store launch under one engagement, Corrido moved from concept to a private living archive families can use today, with a foundation built for long-term preservation and continued development.
